Brainiac is an independent tutoring company that provides flexible, tutee-centered academic support rather than a tutor-centered models commonly promoted at other tutoring companies. 

Our approach may include, but is not limited to, individualized instructional tutoring, the Methodology Tutoring Cycle (MTC), complimentary baseline assessments, guided practice, skill reinforcement, and added value tutorial services when feasible.

We support classroom learning and encourages tutees to build confidence, understanding, and greater independence. 

We consider the tutee's academic needs, goals, current challenges, baseline assessment results when available, schoolwork, IEPs and 504s, and tutor observations when planning and adjusting instructional support and/or plans.

Tutoring may include, but is not limited to, guided practice, skill reinforcement, supplemental resources, homework or coursework support, and additional practice selected for the educational needs of each tutee.

Brainiac tutors support the curriculum, coursework, and academic expectations used by the tutee's school or educational program whenever feasible. In addition, tutors may use Brainiac resourcesand approved supplemental materisl for additional practice, skill reinforcement, and enrichment. 

Brainiac specializes in providing online tutoring services both across the United States and internationally. We also offer in-home tutoring in select regions of Michigan and Indiana, subject to the availability of our traveling tutors.

There is no standard waiting period for our tutoring services. We generally request that families and independent adult tutees allow our tutors at least 24 hours to make contact via phone, email, or text.

During this time, tutors will share their backgrounds, discuss their availability, and/or schedule complimentary sessions to assess compatibility. With that said, families and independent adult tutees have the option to choose tutors who best meet their needs, allowing them to assemble a personalized team of tutors.

We provide complimentary branded baseline assessments in reading, writing, and mathematics to help identify strengths, potential skill gaps, and the best starting point for tutoring.

We take into account information from families, tutees, teachers, and other approved school personnel to enhance academic support.

Our assessments are designed for tutoring and planning purposes and should not be considered clinical evaluations or diagnoses.

The recommended frequency of tutoring sessions varies based on the tutee's academic needs, goals, subject area, schedule, and/or the level of support required.

For the most measurable results, we have consistently advised 2-3 sessions per week over the past 18 years, especially when a tutee requires ongoing academic assistance.

Tutoring frequency can be adapted as progress is made, academic demands evolve, and scheduling needs shift.

At Brainiac, our tutors closely monitor each tutee's progress through ongoing session observations, guided and independent practice, completed assignments, and detailed session notes. 

When appropriate, our tutors can utilize our branded pre-post assessments for long-term tutees, follow-up practice activities, and insights into academic strengths, areas requiring additional support, and potential next steps. 

Progress will vary based on factors such as attendance, consistency, participation, individual academic needs, and practice outside of sessions, as well as the tutee's moitvation to learn.

Absolutely! Brainiac tutors are available to assist with homework, coursework, and online assignments when time allows. Sessions are typically scheduled based on Eastern Time (EST).

It’s important to note that Brainiac tutors do not complete homework, coursework, or projects for the tutee. Instead, they offer instructional support and guidance, empowering the tutee to understand and complete the work independently.

Yes. Brainiac can provide academic support for homeschooled tutees in core subjects. 

Services may include, but are not limited to, guided practice, skill reinforcment, assignment support, supplemental academic resources, baseline asessments, and homeschool coursework support. 

Brainiac provides tutoring support and is not a school or homeschool program.

Absolutely! We provide tutoring for independent adult leaners, including support for GED/HiSET preparation, college coursework, academic skill development, standardized test preaparation, other core subjects. 

Services could include, but are not limited to, reading, writing, mathematics,study skills, and targeted academic support. 

For first-time test takers and those retaking the standardized tests, we suggest dedicating at least 8 to 10 sessions each month, which breaks down to approximately 2 to 3 sessions per week. This consistent approach is essential for effective preparation for standardized tests. Additionally, we recommend allowing at least 2 to 3 months for proper preparation.

That said, the optimal frequency of sessions may vary based on several factors, including exam date, current skill level, target score goals, available study time, and specific areas that require additional focus, which may require more sessions.

Absolutely. The availability of small groups is determined by various factors, including the subject matter, location, academic requirements, scheduling, group size, and tutor availability. Groups of 8 or more are subject to a higher rate.

Families, organizations, and adult learners are encouraged to reach out to Brainiac to discuss group size, availability, and pricing options.

We are looking for qualified adult tutors who have the required academic credentials and subject-area expertise. Ideal candidates will also demonstrate excellent communication skills, professionalism, reliability, and the ability to provide personalized instructional support while maintaining a friendly and approachable demeanor.

All selected job candidates will undergo a comprehensive screening and verification process. This includes degree verification, professional references, nationwide background checks for both domestic and international candidates, and compleitng mandatory onboard training before officially becoming part of Team Brainiac.

Tutors and staff may communicate with the tutee's teachers, counselors, case workers, social workers, or other approved school personnel when appropriate, provided they have written parental permission and a signed legal Brainiac authorization contact form on file.

This communication will help clarify academic concerns, current coursework, classroom expectations, and identify areas where additional tutoring support may be beneficial.

Our goal is to ensure that every tutoring partnership is both productive and comfortable, promoting an optimal learning environment. If a family or tutee has any concerns regarding a primary tutor, we encourage the responisble adult to reach out to Brainiac management for a thorough review of the situation.

When necessary, the secondary tutor may step in as the primary tutor to help ensure continuity of learning.

We do understand that schedules can change from time to time. Families or independent adult tutees are generally not charged for a missed or canceled sessions. 

Repeated cancellations, missed sessions, or concellations could result in cancellation of services without a refund.

No, Brainiac's standard monthly or weekly tutoring plans do not require a long-term commitment and can generally be discontinued by the family or independent adult tutee at any time.

Please be aware that families and independent adult tutees must complete the enrollment materials and acknowledge the applicable service and payment terms before tutoring begins. Some services or arrangements may necessitate a separate written agreement.
